Thanksgiving Dieting – I am going to over eat till I hurt! And proud of it!

by Jeff Gordon Parker on November 25, 2009

Happy Thanksgiving!

I know, my subject line that says I am going to eat till I hurt! Is not quite the subject line you might think you will hear from your personal trainer… Well, I’m going to be blatantly honest with you…

There are other personal trainers out there that are going to blog about what you should not eat on Thanksgiving, what you should eat that is “Healthy” instead… And how you can make proper food choices on this special accession…

Now… If you can do all that and have great will power, then I say go for it! Eat healthy! But if your like me who absolutely love great food on the number one food holiday of the year! I say eat to your hearts content. I know I will be hurting, in fact, I will be eating TWO MEALS tomorrow! That’s right, you heard me, two meals…

I have Thanksgiving brunch with my fiancé and her family at Noon, then I eat dinner at my house at 2:30 pm! I know, not enough time for digestion huh?

But you know what? I’m not worried about it.

Most of you might being thinking this is a joke, or just saying,” SAY WHAT!?!?”

You see, one more meal never did us in. Meaning, one meal never kills your weight loss goals. It’s one meal, then one meal, then one more meal all added up.

Plus I have a secret weapon up my sleeve for tomorrow…

It’s called exercise…

In fact, it’s not exercise that you do afterwards, but what you do before…

Let me explain…

I will be doing my 100 push-ups before I eat anything tomorrow! Well, maybe some coffee first… But…

Exercise before you eat on Thanksgiving will boost your metabolism were what you eat will not have as much effect on your waist line as if you just went and enjoyed yourself tomorrow.

It’s time I introduce my philosophy…

It’s what you DO! Not what you DON’T DO!

Get it?

It’s what you eat that makes you large or skinny, it’s not what you don’t eat.

People think that if you DON’T EAT fast food, you will lose weight.

Not exactly true, because, if you eat crap at home, your still going to gain weight.

If you eat a bunch of broccoli and fresh greens in a chicken breast salad with oil and vin, you will not have room for that cheeseburger sitting right in front of you…. ( Ok, maybe I’m going a little bit to far with the cheeseburger analogy. But you get the idea. )

If you fill your stomach with good healthy food, it will not have room for the crap that makes you fat!

See, it’s what you do, not what you don’t do.

Just not eating crap will make you hungry, because you will just not be eating. Then you will brake, your metabolism is slowed down, and then you gorge out of hunger and gain a lot of fat. That’s what happens when you focus on what you don’t do.

Sooo…. About tomorrow, I am planning on eating some extremely unhealthy food with some healthy greens on the side, but I will certainly over eat tomorrow, and probably gain a little bit of weight because of it…. But…

My chest and arm will look better because I will do 100 push-ups before the eating frenzy begins. And… My metabolism will handle it a heck of a lot better tomorrow because of it!

So before you eat any meal which you know you will over eat, or not eat nearly as healthy as you should… Make sure you go get a work out on before you eat. Your body will be happier for it.

Or even a walk before the big turkey dinner.
